Itinerary

Your Ethiopian odyssey begins in Addis Ababa, where you'll be greeted by our friendly guide upon arrival at Bole Airport. Settle into your comfortable hotel and receive a comprehensive briefing about your upcoming adventure in the Omo Valley.

Take to the skies with a scenic flight from Addis Ababa to Jinka. After settling into your hotel, embark on an afternoon excursion to Mago National Park. Immerse yourself in the rich culture of the Mursi people, renowned for their distinct lip plates. Witness their pastoral lifestyle centered around cattle and goats, and learn about the fascinating coming-of-age ceremony for women involving lip piercing and clay disks. As the day draws to a close, return to Jinka for a relaxing overnight stay.

Following breakfast, depart for Turmi, the heartland of the Hammer people. Along the way, make a stop at Omo Rate, a border town near Kenya, inhabited by the Dassanech tribe. Their name translates to "people of the delta" in the local language. After experiencing their unique culture, continue to Turmi for lunch. In the afternoon, delve into the traditions of the Hammer people, known for their thrilling "bull jumping" ceremony that marks a boy's passage into manhood. Rest comfortably at your lodge in Turmi for the night.

Embark on a captivating journey from Turmi to the land of the Karo people. Witness their elaborate body and face painting, a vibrant expression of their culture. Depending on the day of the week (Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday), you might have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the bustling atmosphere of a local tribal market. As you continue your journey, pass by the Banna people, known for their agro-pastoral lifestyle. Finally, reach Konso for a restful night at Kanta Lodge.

After breakfast, delve into the rich history of Konso, a UNESCO World Heritage Site celebrated for its impressive terracing and renowned coffee production. Learn about the Cushitic-speaking Konso people, famous for their traditional stone-walled villages and unique cultural landscape. Explore the Konso museum and cultural center, and pay a visit to the King of one of the nine clans. Continue your journey north to Arbaminch, meaning "40 springs," the capital of the Gamo zone. After lunch, experience the fascinating culture of the Dorze people, renowned for their exceptional weaving skills, unique elephant-shaped huts constructed from bamboo, and delicious local food, including Kocho. In the late afternoon, return to Arbaminch for a relaxing overnight stay.

Prepare for an exciting boat trip on Lake Chamo after breakfast. Observe the impressive crocodile population and witness the spectacle of hippos at the aptly named "crocodile market." Take a short walk through the jungle to complete your exploration of the area. Enjoy a comfortable overnight stay at a resort or hotel in Arbaminch.

Following breakfast, transfer to Arba Minch Airport for your flight back to Addis Ababa. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and enjoy a delicious lunch. In the afternoon, embark on a captivating Addis Ababa city tour. Visit the National Museum and marvel at "Lucy," the 3.2-million-year-old hominid fossil.
